The WebTk HTML Editor

What is the WebTk Editor?

This is a WYSIWYG HTML editor and browser. You can surf the net and copy and paste what you find into your own pages. The WebTk Editor understands HTML/2.0 and some Netscape extensions. Table and frame support is in progress, but not yet complete.

Why use it?

There are tons of html editors out there. WebTk tries to be different by providing end-user extensibility and customizations. You can set up the editor to insert arbitrary HTML with the click of a button on the programmable toolbar. The programability will get better over time. You can already add your own Tcl code to evolve the editor to suite your in-house needs. However, the documenation of the Tcl APIs is non-existent.

The program is also a browser. You can have multiple windows open and copy and paste text, hypertext links, and images from other pages. I call this "Surf-n-Steal Technology". You can also easily download pages and images that are referenced from a page. Just select them and use the download menu operations to get a local copy.

There is a built in imagemap editor.

There are facilities for charting and validating links on a set of pages.

The program runs on UNIX, Windows, and the Macintosh.

The current beta release is free for a 90 evaluation period. If demand is sufficient, we'll improve this and sell it for a modest fee.
